It took me a long time to read this one, no fault of Albright‘s though. This book is split into often individual stories per chapter and was easy to read as a chapter here and there in between other things. Some stories seem dated now, 2016 election seems like eons ago, other seem more prescient, especially those about NATO, China, Russia. But as a whole the chapters where she discusses her personal life, personal victories, her drive and ⤵️

Riveted_Reader_Melissa ↪️ things she needed to be talked into, and things she needed to talk others into, people she admired, and even the little side comments her grandchild made were the most touching for me. It‘s great to see the human side of our political figures and especially strong women with real lives too. 2y

WTF! How have I never heard of this and how didn‘t it become a scandal!

OMG, just when you think you‘ve heard everything, something like just jumps off the page at you…mentioned like an oh well normal occurrence that just flabbergasts and enrages me. 🤦‍♀️

The school for the brightest of the bright young women, who were photographed topless, graded on their bodies, and then the pictures were shipped off to Yale. 🤮

I enjoyed this memoir about Albright‘s career after being Secretary of State. I didn‘t/don‘t know a lot about her, but she seemed very funny and smart. I‘d like to read more of her books.

It took me a full 2 weeks to finish this book, but I did and I'm glad I picked it up. I learned so much about Madeleine Albright! I definitely want to read more about her pin collection too.

This woman is a legend and I love her. Really enjoyed this memoir of her more recent years, which I think could inspire women of any age but might be extra pleasing to the not-so-young among us - the array of important work she‘s done in her sixties, seventies, and eighties is remarkable. I‘ve only read her 2018 book Fascism (also great), but her backlist is on my TBR now. Audio recommended, as her intelligence and sense of humor shine through.

Her Fascism book was so good (I‘ll tag it below if you are interested), I‘m going to have to pick this one up on audiobook soon.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Christine Yes it was! I just happened to see this in a book store email flyer today, and did the same...although I might have to splurge an audible credit for this one. I really liked her narration of Fascism, and my library doesn‘t have the audiobook available. 5y
