The First Time
The First Time: Finding Myself and Looking for Love on Reality TV | Colton Underwood
5 posts | 4 read | 1 to read
From former football player and star of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette comes a fascinating and eye-opening behind-the-scenes look at his drama-filled season on the hit reality show. Before Colton Underwood captured the hearts of millions on The Bachelor, he was a goofy, socially awkward, overweight adolescent who succeeded on the football field while struggling with personal insecurities off it. An All American gridiron hero, he was also a complex, sometimes confused, soft-hearted romantic wondering how these contradictions fit together. Old-fashioned and out of step with the swipe right dating culture of today, he was saving the most intimate part of life for the love of his life. If only he could find her Now, in The First Time, Colton opens up about how he came to find himself and true love at the same time via the Bachelor franchise. Unencumbered by cameras and commercial breaks, he delivers a surprisingly raw, endearing, and seriously juicy account of his journey through The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, and The Bachelor, along with what has happened with him and Cassie Randolph since his season wrapped. He opens up about being dumped by Becca, his secret dalliance with Tia, what it was like to be the worlds most famous virgin, his behind-the-scenes conflicts with production, and how his on-camera responsibilities as the Bachelor nearly destroyed him after he knew he had already fallen in love with Cassie. A memoir for Bachelor Nation and anyone who believes in the magic of love, The First Time carries a simple but powerful message: Its okay to laugh and cry and occasionally jump over a fence, if it means coming one step closer to the right person.

I agree with @Chelsea.Poole 's review of this one. The audiobook was entertaining, but I already knew most of the information. He didn't reveal anything scandalous or new, & it had nothing to do with actually losing his virginity. I also felt a bit weird reading it in a moment that they are truly broken up and are in the middle of a battle with a restraining order. But it doesn't surprise me, especially hearing in his own words his ideas on love.

Chelsea.Poole When they broke up and the news came out about the accusations against Colton I just thought about how awkward this book is now 😳 4y
Kaylamburson It's so awkward. I wonder if they'll cancel the paperback. Apparently he wrote additional chapters about COVID they were going to include. @Chelsea.Poole 4y

Meh...it was a quick read. Nothing earth-shattering, but I was entertained. Most of it I already knew, but I always like to get a peek at the inside of operations for The Bachelor. I feel like Colton is a stand-up, genuine guy, and I hope he finds happiness.

JenReadsAlot Good brain candy like the show! 5y

#celebritymemoir Listen, sometimes I need to melt my brain with less-than-literary titles. I watch the bachelor, so yeah 🤷🏼‍♀️🌹

jdiehr Ain't no shame in your game 😁 5y
Kaylamburson This is out already? I thought it was fall! 5y
Chelsea.Poole @jdiehr thank you! ☺️More and more I've come to embrace all types of tv and books, and I realize there's a reason we social creatures are interested in reality shows! 5y

Chelsea.Poole @Kaylamburson I'm not sure when it was released, but I'm thinking last month 😊 5y
Kaylamburson Awesome! I'll have to look. He was one of the first bachelor seasons I've watched, too. And I'm loving Listen to Your Heart right now. 5y

Colton‘s season was my first dive into the Bachelor world. I was hooked. This book is everything that anyone in Bachelor Nation could hope for. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
