Alexandria
Alexandria: A Marcus Didius Falco Novel | Lindsey Davis
3 posts | 4 read | 3 to read
In first century A.D. Rome, during the reign of Vespasian, Marcus Didius Falco works as a private "informer," often for the emperor, ferreting out hidden truths and bringing villains to ground. But even informers take vacations with their wives, so in A.D. 77, Falco and his wife, Helena Justina, with others in tow, travel to Alexandria, Egypt. But they aren't there long before Falco finds himself in the midst of nefarious doings—when the Librarian of the great library is found dead, under suspicious circumstances. Falco quickly finds himself on the trail of dodgy doings, malfeasance, deadly professional rivalry, more bodies and the lowest of the low—book thieves! As the bodies pile up, it's up to Falco to untangle this horrible mess and restore order to a disordered universe.

Pickpick

This series is so much fun and I've binged my way through that past several installments. With only one book left now, I can't decide if I want to jump right into the last one or if I want to read some other books to procrastinate finishing one of my favorite series.

rockpools I'm sure you've seen, but she has a follow-on series starring Flavia Alba, Falco & Helena's daughter, so you can stay in their world a few books longer! 8y

Reading and knitting for a bit now. I'm not very good at doing things while I knit but baby gifts don't knit themselves! #24in48

A murder mystery set in 44 A.D. in the famous library. What's not to love? I haven't tried this series before and while its historical accuracy is dubious at best, it's good fun as a palette cleanser. And the audiobook is a delight.

Dogearedcopy I'm reading the series in order and just finished 'Ode to a Banker'. She actually did quite a bit of research and touring of the regions before writing the series so perhaps not as dubious as you might think! 9y
