"It is like nothing else I've ever read. The characters are so real, you'll feel like you know exactly what they look like and how their voices sound and what they would say or do in any given situation. More than that, you'll want to hang out with them. Then the world is so amazing and unique. You will want to go there. You will want to walk into the Place.' And you will want to sleep in a dream opera." Stephenie Meyer, The Twilight SagaLaura comes from a world similar to our own except for one difference: It is next to the Place, an unfathomable land that fosters dreams of every kind and is inaccessible to all but a select few, the dreamhunters. These are individuals with the ability to catch larger-than-life dreams and relay them to audiences in the magnificent dream palace. People travel from all around to experience the benefits of the hunters' unique visions. Now, fifteen-year-old Laura and her cousin Rose, daughters of dreamhunters, are old enough to find out if they qualify to enter the Place. But nothing can prepare them for what they are about to discover. In the midst of a fascinating landscape, Laura's dreamy childhood is ending, and a nightmare is beginning."Dreamhunter" is a 2007 Bank Street - Best Children's Book of the Year."

This review is for both books in the Dreamhunter duet. I think you pretty much have to read them both 😋 YA fantasy with such an interesting concept I had to keep reading. I was still trying to work it all out right up until the end 😆 My initial rating is ⭐⭐⭐ but this may rise upon further pondering 😊

Hello, fellow #24In48 people! (Hello everyone else, too!) I managed to read for an hour and fifty-one minutes last night before I fell asleep, and now I‘m almost ready to dive back into RIVEN by Roan Parrish. Just gotta wake up a teensy bit more.

While I wait for my brain to kick back in, here‘s a fantasy stack for 24 In 48‘s Hour 6 challenge. It‘s a bit of a cheat since I originally made it for the Dewey‘s 24-Hour Readathon Instagram; shhhh.

#septembowie #changes

In Laura and Rose's world, when you turn 15 you get to try and enter The Place - a grey in-between world that only exists for Dreamhunters. Dreamhunters collect dreams and then play them out in opera houses for a sleeping audience to share. The changes the girls go through as they turn 15 have to be quickly turned to their advantage as the dark secret of The Place is uncovered.

Bowie would like this one I think!

Marchpane Sounds intriguing - the idea of dreaming someone else's dream is kind of creepy! 7y
Centique @Marchpane it is creepy! But not too scary as it's YA. 7y

#photoadaynov16 #bookpyramid

I tried to do a pyramid of just NZ books. Most of the novels are the same height so it didn't really work!

Still a shout out to Dreamhunter which is a fantastic fantasy (two book series). It's set in a version of this world where specially talented people are paid to gather dreams which they then 'broadcast' to a sleeping audience in a theatre. Except of course there is a huge mystery to be solved!

Dreamhunter and Dreamquake, written by New Zealander Elizabeth Knox, are an awesome duet of books set in a land where dreams are harnessed by these dreamhunters and "performed" to the general population who cannot dream. The top dreamhunters perform at the Rainbow Opera to the society's elite. Dreamy and also exciting, it's one of my favourite series! #24in48

Lindy I love this duet too. ❤️ 8y
