I found this to be on the darker side for this author but it was still filled with the humor and interesting side characters this author is known for. This book deals with grief and found family but not in a totally depressing way.

I loved this book so much. I laughed and cried. Two people dealing with the burden of unbearable grief form an inexplicable bond. The slow burn romance is founded on a solid emotional connection, and its trajectory is tragically beautiful.

Ok so this is a lot. I was hoping for something closer to the feel of the Chicago Stars series, but this is much more angsty and has a lot more plot, most of which doesn‘t actually involve the hero - which was really my main problem with the book - I never got to know North well enough to really understand him and root for him. Overall: Not awful just not what I wanted. Never mind.

Latest romance read, although it‘s a bit angstier than I was hoping...

As a HUGE Susan Elizabeth Phillips fan, it quite literally pains me to say that I didn't enjoy this at all. While glimpses of her trademark writing style come through, it lacks almost all of the charm and wit that her characters usually have in droves. To be fair, I've loved every single book she's ever written, so there was bound to be a dud at some point. Hopefully her signature humor comes back in the next one 🙃

Tess is a widowed midwife starting over in a new place. Ian is an artist trying to find inspiration. Ian and Tess are two people you would never pair together but...I loved how the characters evolved in this story. I would give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

I DNF‘d this book at 61%.

I just did not like or care for the main characters at all.

I usually adore SEP's books, but this one fell flat for me, especially the beginning.

Any other SEP fans out there? It's been 4 long years since her last release so I can't wait for my library hold to come in on her latest! She does the best romcoms ❤️ #romance
