Really, I‘m disappointed without knowing if by me or by the author. My orientation was, as I said, the blurb, not the subtitle “The failure of Western nations in the Middle Eastâ€, which puts the content a bit into perspective.

I was so curious for Peter Scholl-Latour because he to me seems quite famous in Germany – and now I am so disappointed that I‘m unsure if I ever touch another book by him. 😟

If you‘re an expert, you might like it.

Mehso-so

It‘s not uninteresting but it absolutely doesn‘t meet the expectations created by the marketing blurb. Honestly, there‘s no red thread in there. Additionally, the writing is demanding with long complicated sentences that are hard to follow even with your ears.
And Scholl-Latour uses a lot of unknown terms without explanation. The last 3 hours about Iranian history were interesting. Therefore “So-Soâ€, otherwise it had been “Panâ€.

Guess what.

Yepp, this is no easy one. I often feel helplessly uninformed – even though I thought I‘m not running around with mind-cuffs.

I‘m at hour 2,5 and haven‘t really found the read thread. Syria, Sunnies, Shiites, Alawis, mysticism, conspiracy theories, stories of “When I last visited Xyz in 1970 …â€

It‘s not uninteresting but it‘s sometimes hard for me to follow because I lack the big picture.

Peter Scholl-Latour was a famous and as far as I know, a considered French-German journalist.

I am curious if what he has to say to these issues will match what Micheal Lüders says in â€Die den Sturm ernten“.

After I have read this book I did a bit of research about Michael Lüders – and he is not undisputed: ?? https://bit.ly/2wJlzir.

“Everyone is talking about the NSA scandal, but no less scandalous is the disinformation by Western intelligence on the situation in Syria and other countries of the Middle East. This region has been plagued by decades of political and military intervention by the West, all more of a curse than a blessing. Peter Scholl-Latour is emphatically portraying the confusion of ethnic, religious and ideological conflicts that keep the peoples at bay.â€
