“The Bracelet” is a HF book and is perfect for an RA! It is about a young Japanese girl who had to go to an internment camp with her family during World War II. She received a bracelet from her best friend before leaving, which symbolizes their friendship. She then realizes that she‘ll always have her friend in her heart, no matter what. https://www.teachingbooks.net/tb.cgi?tid=975 #UCFLAE3414SP20

hadassajl Wow this book looks like it‘d be such a great read! I can definitely see how your EL strategy fits in with this book. Great post! 5y
DrSpalding I am adding this to my stack. Your English learner strategy does not quite work here because students will have limited prior knowledge of WWII. This would be an excellent book to read aloud in a fifth grade class during a social studies unit on the war. 5y
