The Loop
The Loop | Ben Oliver
6 posts | 3 read | 4 to read
Luka Kane has been inside hi-tech prison the Loop for over two years. A death sentence is hanging over his head but his day-to-day routine is mind-numbingly repetitive, broken only by the books brought to him by the sympathetic warden, Wren. Then everything starts to change: rumours of war are whispered in the courtyard and the government-issued rain stops falling. On Luka's last, desperate day, Wren issues him a terrifying warning: breaking out of the Loop might be Luka's only chance to save himself - and the world ... Book 1 in a dark, original, twisty and totally unputdownable new series.

Mehso-so

Fast-paced, high action, really enjoyable dystopian read. Liked the characters, and enjoyed how some changed and some naturally didn‘t grow. I read the book blurb of book two, and that turned this into a so-so for me. Book 2 sounds like a “up the ante” repeat of book 1. Wish this was a duet instead since I really want to know how it ends. Great for fans of The Uglies and Unwind.

43 pages in. Reads easy so far. Reminds me a bit of Unwind by Neal Shusterman so far. I forgot how much I enjoy dystopian books. Let‘s see where this goes!

Futuristic death row for teens? Sure, why not.

It‘s The Hunger Games inside a prison. I‘m sure there will be more books but they are unnecessary. I think there‘s not much more of the story to be told. It has a Terminator type element to it as well. For me I wanted to know more about the past details of the society then what will happen in the future.

Pickpick

Wake up. Eat. Run. Have the life drained from you. Sleep. Repeat. Life in the Loop doesn't vary much for Luka Kane, but when you're on death row at 16, you get what you get. After 2+ years of the same thing the routine changes. The outside world has gone dark. Nothing is working; & the peoplee? Well, let's just say creepy crazy are good words for it. It's up to Luka and his fellow inmates to figure a way out. A great new entry in YA dystopia!

As stated by many others in their reviews, this book is reminiscient of The Maze Runner and The Hunger Games, but with an added prison element. It is a fast paced, dystopic thriller that hits all the intended notes with a corrupt government, war, many invisible and visible threats, and danger at every turn.
