Kit Sweetly has a lot going against her & there's a lot going on in this book. So much that I found it hard to engage w/Kit & her goal to become a knight for a bit, b/c it seems like there are so many other things to focus on. Also, with Kit attracting celebrity & positive responses fairly quickly, the stakes are never that high. Fortunately, Kit & her friends grew on me, making a predictable read more fun. So while not my fave, it was cute.

This was a fun, fast contemporary YA tale of one teen's quest to topple the patriarchal rules about who can be a knight at her medieval castle dinner theater job. I liked Kit, the concept, and the depiction of a working poor family's struggles, but a lot of the side characters felt incredibly two dimensional and the pacing isn't always on point. Still, a cute read that fits right into the current genre.
