Spent the evening tearing up damaged books (bound for the recycling , don‘t hate me) to make collage kits for the book sale I volunteer for. Hoping there‘s some local interest at sale time. Wish me luck - I hate tossing them, so I hope this will be a way to put at least some of them to use before they‘re trashed.

This is pretty cool. I love flipping through Lapham's. Each issue is devoted to a single topic and contains extracts from literature, diaries, letters, speeches, etc. on that topic. The breadth of sources is impressive - this issue has pieces from 1977 Pyonyang to 1901 Chicago to 2021 Reddit. The art/photos/graphics are pretty cool as well. If I were still teaching, I'd def want a subscription. They're just fun to page through. ❤️

Not sure which book this is referring to but mine is a journal...I thought it would be essays about the theme of time but turns out to be a culling of historical essays, quotes, and art. The quotes keep interrupting the essays. The bios are neat and give some context, but I don‘t get much benefit from leaping from 320 BC to 1750 AD ad infinitem.
