Found this by way of another review. It's real and it's real funny. They're making a movie and the lead actors are all comedians. That's how ludicrous this story is! Can't wait to see the movie because this book is bonkers

You guys! Masterminds is a movie out September 30 based on Heist! Heist is the true (but completely bananas) story of the theft of $17 million in NC in the late 90's. As told by the Charlotte Observer reporter covering the case. Great cast. They had to get comedians because the actual events were so nutty. It's a little worrisome how long it took the Feds to catch this crew. 😄💸💸💸💸💸 #SeptemberPhotoChallenge #somethingforsept

Fun!! Journalist author telling the zany true story of a $17 Million heist. What amazed me was how long it took the Feds to round these folks up given all the absurd things they did before, during and after the crime. Great read.

booksofmainandmaple I recently downloaded this one on my kindle! Excited to hear it was a good one! 8y

Fun Friday Photo: what do I like to read about? I absolutely get on reading kicks. The latest?? A small obsession with books about art forgery led to a tryst with art crime novels which led me to my latest kick: true crime heist books!

mllemay That sounds fascinating!! Any you would recommend? 9y
ReadingOver50 Love that photo too 😀 9y
Laura317 @Well-ReadNeck I second @mllemay - any recommendations? After a trip to the Louvre, I am thirsting for some good art reads. 9y

Girl_Power @Well-ReadNeck I am guessing you already read Provenance by Laney Salisbury. Brilliant!! 9y

ValerieAndBooks I love these type of books about art/art history! Thanks for your recs. I just started "The Lost Painting" by Jonathan Harr -- it's about a Caravaggio masterpiece that mysteriously disappeared. 8y
