Yotsuba&!, Vol. 13
Yotsuba&!, Vol. 13 | Kiyohiko Azuma
2 posts | 5 read
Fresh off the excitement of her camping trip, Yotsuba initiates a very productive session of sandbox play in which she instructs Fuuka how to properly run a bakery. But even more exciting is a visit from Grandma! Yotsuba learns how to value and enjoy cleaning, how not to be rude when hoping for souvenirs, and most important, how to cope when Grandma leaves. But don't worry, she'll be back someday!

I finished my YOTSUBA&! reread at lunch yesterday, and friends, it's still the NICEST series. Yotsuba has 13 volumes worth of everyday adventures and I grinned my way through the lot.

My very favourite thing about it is that Yotsuba's a weirdo but NOBODY TRIES TO CHANGE HER. When I was a kid, the unusual child character always, always faced scrutiny from disapproving adults who wanted her to be More Like Them. Yotsuba's adults embrace her quirks.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Cool cover! Does she have powers or is she imagining? 6y
xicanti @TobeyTheScavengerMonk early in the series there're a few hints Yotsuba might be an alien, but as far as the actual narrative goes she's just an enthusiastic human kid. 6y

#catchingup on #anditsaugust #day23 - #punctuate

Was surprised to learn I hadn't posted about this series in a while, despite taking this picture with a different daily theme in mind weeks ago.

Really can't understate the value of this series, both as a gateway #manga and as a work of graphic art. Totally missed the significance of the naming convention (the "&" segwaying into each chapter title) for longer than I care to admit.
