Such melodrama! With hints of #Clarissa, except the heroine is less good. The villain is a caricature and the hero is not particularly appealing. But it did keep me reading and there were moments of humor, so I‘ll give it a weak pick. #readyourKobo @CBee

Getting definite #Clarissa vibes from this one, and I‘m only 3% in.

A story of choices, of misunderstandings and of repentance, East Lynne was immersive.

Many of the lines in this book are absolutely beautiful and so poignant. Your heart breaks and you feel conflicted by the familial struggles portrayed here.

As for the crime, that is sub-plot, it is pretty easy to guess who the villain is, right from the start of the book.

The narration was fabulous- charged and emotional - albeit a tad melodramatic.

A man wrongfully accused of murder.

A woman abandoning her husband and children, only to be abandoned in turn by the man who tricked her into leaving.

Mistaken identity.

Death.

Murder trials.

This book has everything!
