Ali in Wonderland
Ali in Wonderland: And Other Tall Tales | Ali Wentworth
5 posts | 9 read | 3 to read
Mix 1 oz. Chelsea Handler, 1.5 oz. Nora Ephron, finish with a twist of Tina Fey, and you get Ali in Wonderland, the uproarious, revealing, and heartfelt memoir from acclaimed actress and comedian Ali Wentworth. Whether spilling secrets about her quintessentially WASPy upbringing (and her delicious rebellion against it), reminiscing about her Seinfeld Schmoopie days and her appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The View, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, or baring the details of starting a family alongside husband George Stephanopoulos, one thing is for sureAli has the unsurpassable humor and warmth of a born storyteller with a story to tell: the quirky, flavorful, surprising, and sometimes scandalous Ali in Wonderland. Ali Wentworth is funny and warm and crazy all at once. Like Barbara Eden. But on something. Like crystal meth. Alec Baldwin

There is nothing earth shattering in this book but there are lots of cute stories to make you laugh. I listened to this and enjoyed both the content and the fact that it is read by Ali herself.

Ali Wentworth is definitely likable. Her "memoir" is funny and charming, with plenty of laughable antidotes. If you are seeking inspiration, wisdom or life affirming prose skip this book - if you want something light and a quick read, GO FOR IT! This was a substitute for Born A Crime ( which I read & LOVED) for the #MarchMadness challenge run by @JenP Hoping Villanova will not disappoint ~ Go Wildcats?BTW: Ali is married to George Stephanopoulos

MicheleinPhilly They are such an odd match. She's so goofy and irreverent and he's so buttoned up. It makes me giggle just to contemplate what their house must be like. 8y
Cinfhen I agree @MicheleinPhilly they are a little mismatched. And she's hunched over so she doesn't tower over him in the photo...he does seem ultra conservative to her very bohemian past. I guess opposites do attract❤️❤️ 8y

I thought this line was pretty accurate 😂Sadly, this is the type of wisdom contained in this collection, however I'm laughing and enjoying so that counts for something. #MarchMadness

My bracket is NOT looking good 😫😫😫Need to decide which books to move forward with. I'm currently reading Ali in Wonderland as my substitute pick....she's a funny writer but talk about privilege ( hard to feel any sympathy) I felt TREMENDOUS respect for Noah Trevor but Ali Wentworth is not really cutting it 😐#MarchMadness

RadicalReader @Cinfhen what do you mean by bracket? 8y
RadicalReader @Cinfhen oy vey and ay yi yi yi have been my go to expressions 8y
Cinfhen I'm participating in a college basketball/ book tournament where teams compete and the winner advances. My bracket indicates which teams I thought would advance. It begins with 64 teams/books until you get to a champion @RadicalReader 8y

Cinfhen "Oy Vey" is pretty much "Oh, Sh$t !!!" in my house @RadicalReader ? 8y
RadicalReader @Cinfhen I am so glad to have found you on Litsy you are my best friend I agree with you on words taking on their own meaning in a household 8y
Cinfhen Thanks for the love @RadicalReader Have a wonderful day😊 8y
JenP My bracket is doing terribly too 8y
JenP I finished reading Difficult women which was then eliminated about 20 minutes after I finished it. 8y
Cinfhen It's still a good way to tackle your #TBR @JenP but I'm definitely not getting any awards for bracket picks! 8y

Our next read. I first heard of Ali when she was on Comedians in Cars getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld. What a fun episode. Looking forward to this one. #aliinwonderland
