Have you ever read a book (or multiple books) where the writing and plot are weak, but you need to know what happens to the characters (even if they are two-dimensional)??? That is how I would describe my reaction to Julie Klassen Books. The Secret of Pembrooke Park was no exception. I found myself rolling my eyes at the writing, but could not stop reading. The characters are cliche true, but nonetheless the sweet story prevails. 2.5/5 stars.
Well, if there's a kyrptonite genre for me it's Regency/Gothic Romance. I will read any I can get my hands on. This one was nice and tame, as it was Christian. For me, it's nice to know that Christian Fiction has more variety, and another plus is that it wasn't over the top and preachy (that's a turn off for me. I'm ok with an agenda, but I hate it when it's thrown in as a random after-thought.) But over all I doubt I'll remember having read it.
I have 6 hours to kill - might as well spend them reading, right?
This is a light - Very light - Regency Gothic style romance. All the of the Austenites' ears are pricking up, I'll bet. But, it's also imspirational. Which is fine, but not as fun as a secular book might have been.
