Good book. Could be a tough book for some people.
Yikes! I've experienced the worst drama from students, can't imagine being in the position of the group of protagonists find themselves in. I literally clenched my teeth while reading a good portion of the last third.
Athena Graves is far more comfortable creating Mixed Tape Playlists than she is talking to cute boys or anyone else for that matter. And her staunchly feminist views and love for Punk Rock aren‘t exactly mainstream at St. Ann‘s, her conservative Catholic high school...
I received this book as an ARC. I liked the plot of this book. As a middle school teacher, it‘s refreshing to read a story about girls working together, rather than against each other, to overcome some type of adversity. This book is definitely not for everyone (quite political), but the overall message was good. On the negative side, I think the book was a little too long and some of the characters were underdeveloped.
I forgot about Litsy for four months but hello! Here is today‘s read out in the hammock.
The opening lines. Keenan's got me from jump. Two things I will always remember from high school: having pins confiscated because their message was against school policy and that time the principal called my mom because I was listening to secular music during school. 🤣🤣🤣 I went to public school. The south is wild, y'all. Super excited to read this YA novel set in my hometown.
