Satanic Bible | Anton La Vey

Called "The Black Pope" by many of his followers, Anton La Vey began the road to High Priesthood of the Church of Satan when he was only 16 years old and an organ player in a carnival: "On Saturday night I would see men lusting after halfnaked girls dancing at the carnival, and on Sunday morning when I was playing the organ for tent-show evangelists at the other end of the carnival lot, I would see these same men sitting in the pews with their wives and children, asking God to forgive them and purge them of carnal desires. And the next Saturday night they'd be back at The carnival or some other place of indulgence. "I knew then that the Christian Church thrives on hypocrisy, and that man's carnal nature will out!" From that time early in his life his path was clear. Finally, on the last night of April, 1966Walpurgisnacht, the most important festival of the believers in witchcraftLaVey shaved his head in the tradition of Ancient executioners and announced the formation of The Church Of Satan. He had seen the need for a church that would recapture man's body and his carnal desires as objects of celebration. "Since worship of fleshly things produces pleasure," he said, "there would then be a temple of glorious indulgence . . ."

“In this arid wilderness of steel and stone I raise up my voice that you may hear. To the East and to the West I beckon. To the North and to the South I show a sign proclaiming: Death to the weakling, wealth to the strong!“

The Satanic Bible - Anton LaVey // Necronomicon, a tribute to Aleistar Crowley.

Read these two in my teens. Good to read together, and have been told not to read the Satanic Bible aloud, food for thought.

denbightaylorbeedle @Milara I would probably be in the latter of your comment. Not religious, but when you study into people like Plato, Aristotle, Pythagoras or even DaVinci, their work hums in occult language, just like Aleistar Crowley. All apart of secret societies who pass down the language of symbolism. I wouldn't read either of these books in a light hearted manner, but that's just me. 4y
denbightaylorbeedle @Milara Oh you didn't offend! I'm sorry if my response came off that way. I totally understand why you said that. And I am in agreeance with you on how he exposes hypocrisy of the church, modern religion is in no way in accordance of the Bible. 4y

I got these two books on sale yesterday at Booksamillion! Was super shocked to find the book on the left in my tiny Bible belt town, but I knew I had to grab it 😈 #BookHaul

Pickpick

Don‘t go into this expecting scripture, as that kind of defeats the point of the whole philosophy. At its core, it seems like the book is pushing you to acknowledge who you are and accept all aspects of yourself (good and bad). It does indulge in a bit of psychodrama, though.

Took a pilgrimage with my husband to The Cathedral of the Pines today to indulge in a little nature worship. (Kidding about the book title, though.) Happy Easter, Littens!
