“hawaii‘s story” is a very important resource for those wanting to learn more about US annexation & colonization of the hawaiian islands. while liliuokalani has a sharp memory, this is often more a curse than a blessing — the autobiography is inundated with trivial details about royal life & luxury. she definitely has Monarchy Brain™️ so in the future i would like to instead read perspectives on annexation from lower class hawaiians! ⭐️ 2.5/5 ⭐️
Another book I found in the library's basement. This edition was published in 1898. There are some great pictures in here.
Hawaii‘s Story chronicles the gradual overthrow of the Hawaiian government by annexationists. Although there were parts where the author‘s biases showed through (not sure the country was perfect before the annexationists), this primary source provides a unique perspective on this fascinating and tragic chapter of Hawaii‘s history.
Enjoying my graduation celebration vacation with my best friend in Waikiki 🌈
Too many pictures to choose from.
@DebinHawaii look what I found at the thrift store today. Fit for a Queen.
