I absolutely LOVED this poetry collection! Jeffers seemed to be someone of principle with a love of nature and a distrust of government. He strove to write poetry that would endure. Many of his poems give an unflinching acceptance of the darker aspects of human nature, for to deny them is to deny who we truly are. His poetry puts more faith in the natural world, because it endures and always acts without artifice. Highly recommend. 5⭐️
Poems like “To The Stonecutters” bring hope to a splintered world. #writepoetry #nationalpoetrymonth #oldfavorite
#aprilbookshowers #ruralsetting #nationalpoetrymonth I was going to go with some Ron Rash today, but it turns out I lent my copy out! So let's go with a poetry favorite - the wind-swept, California coastal landscapes of Jeffers.
Today's Friday reads is more poetry! If you like apocalyptic fiction, you should read these stunning, haunting poems. Jeffers' anti-war stance led to his marginalization after WW2, but he's ripe for a continued rediscovery!
