I am a sucker for books with interesting designs, unusual layouts etc. My ten year old self would have loved this story.

I think this book wins the award for the most number of re-reads. I first read it when I was quite young (probably too young to be honest!) and I'm not sure why I loved it so much as I probably didn't get much out of it, though the use of unusual and imaginative language probably appealed to me!
This is the prequel to Skellig, David Almond's more well known book, however I much prefer My Name is Mina!
