This was one of the MyTBR recommendations for me this quarter. It‘s not a book I would have chosen for myself because I don‘t love magical realism but I ended up liking it. It weaves in fairy tales and is partially set in Norway, which I enjoyed.

I wanted to love this. Magical rings and missing mothers. But the first sentence on the first page had a grammatical error. Ugh, annoying. And I realized after finishing the book there were so many plot holes and unanswered questions. Sometimes with folktales the story gives the reader no answers. But this isn‘t one of those. This story feels lost. Unfinished.
