I just got so sad 😔
I picked this up, eager to engage with math as an adult.
And it starts out great! Did you realize that calling numbers “digits” is a callback to counting on our hands🖐 ?!?! Fun!
And then... he started talking about the imaginary number, i 😮! I cried in 9th grade over this 🤣😢. For real. My math teacher saw me quietly weeping and started stammering.
And just like that, I don‘t wanna know any more about math 😢😣
Bookwomble It's awful when childhood anxieties we thought we were over come flooding back ? I understand little of maths, but my son is doing a masters in the subject, and he was explaining imaginary numbers to me last weekend. Apart from the words "square root of a negative number", I've still little concept of what they are! When I read a similar book to this one, I just skipped the bits I didn't understand! 5y
