Well, that‘s typical! First read of the year and first read for #SeriesLove2023 and it‘s not in the database!

Anyway, having read 1-7 of the Bliss series, it was time to pick up this novella-length prequel, focussing on Bliss in his first big case as a Detective. A quick read, adding a bit more background to the grizzled cop.

The jury is still out on whether Di Bliss is a likeable character, but as a crime story, this is a competent novel that made me want to keep reading. I worked out who the culprit was well before the end, which is rare for me, but the how and why was as interesting as the who.
