Paper Aeroplanes | Dawn O'Porter

I just can't imagine me without you... It's the mid-1990s, and fifteen year-old Guernsey schoolgirls, Rene and Flo, are not really meant to be friends. Thoughtful, introspective and studious Flo couldn't be more different to ambitious, extroverted and sexually curious Rene. But Rene and Flo are united by loneliness and their dysfunctional families, and an intense bond is formed. Although there are obstacles to their friendship (namely Flo's jealous ex-best friend and Rene's growing infatuation with Flo's brother), fifteen is an age where anything can happen, where life stretches out before you, and when every betrayal feels like the end of the world. For Rene and Flo it is the time of their lives. With graphic content and some scenes of a sexual nature, PAPER AEROPLANES is a gritty, poignant, often laugh-out-loud funny and powerful novel. It is an unforgettable snapshot of small-town adolescence and the heart-stopping power of female friendship.

Loved it!! A fun love story about best friends and how important good friendships are!! And the mean girl was so mean! I was waiting for her comeuppance from the first page. Am so excited to read the sequel Goose, but will read a couple of others before I read it so I can space out the joy of Flo and Renee

Really looking forward to this. I like Dawn O'Porter on tv and in her magazine columns, so have high hopes for this. Plus the main characters are 15 and it's set in 1994, so they're my age... expecting lots of reminiscing while I read!
