A book of poems that focus on violence against women. I first heard of Gatwood from watching Button Poetry spoken word. Some of her poems from there are featured here.

I‘ve loved Gatwoods poems since I heard Ode to my Bitch Face on social media. This book of poems followed themes of being obsessed with true crime, specifically revolving around violence against women. It was relatable because I often indulge in books/podcasts that center around violence against my better judgement. I already live in constant fear of attack, why make it worse? Other themes of adolescent love, queer love, and healing
I‘ve been obsessed with Olivia Gatwood since I heard her poem “Ode to The Women On Long Island” (strongly recommend you all check it out on YouTube!) and I‘m so excited I was finally able to pick up her debut collection as an early birthday present to myself 🤩
I read this Jan 7-13 & rated it 4 ⭐️. I liked this one better than My New American Best Friend. She‘s definitely a poet to watch. This collection of poems deals with violence against women.
A poetry collection centered around violence against women, ranging from true-crime obsessions with serial killers to violence we horrifyingly come to think of as everyday, mundane. Several of the poems in this collection gave me goosebumps or brought me to tears; it's somehow simultaneously intimate and universal, always powerful. I'm trying to read more poetry this year and am still newer to it. #boutofbooks
Poems that speak to that little primal voice found deep inside every female-identifying person... horrifying, potent, and timely.

Olivia Gatwood attracted an online fan base of millions for her extraordinary spoken-word performances, Olivia Gatwood now puts her own coming-of-age tale together with an investigation into our culture‘s romanticization of violence against women. Life of the Party is a collection of poetry and prose that delves into the boundaries between what is real and what is imagined...
What a phenomenal book of poetry. Fixating on our obsessions with true crime, victims, and the possession of women‘s bodies, Gatwood is just absolutely fucking phenomenal. Probably the best book of poetry I‘ve ever read.
getting some reading in on this sunday morning - enjoyed Gatewoods last book of poems & excited keep reading this e-arc of her latest, & my hold for this novella came in recently so planning on starting & finishing this one today 😃📚📖
