Once, I Laughed My Socks Off - Poems for Kids | Steve Attewell
4 posts | 2 read
A collection of fun and imaginative of poems for fun and imaginative kids (and those adults that still behave like kids). Learn why you should tidy up after yourself, why midnight snacking is not such a good idea, and what to do if you laugh so hard that your socks come off! This delightful book of children's poems contains a host of interesting stories and characters for your kids to enjoy. Each story more fun that the last.Amongst the stories you'll find Melvin the midnight-snacking, sneaking teddy bear who can't wait to get his hands on the rest of the jam. Two collared doves, Ebb and Flo, who narrowly escape a run-in with the cat and fall in love. My socks (which won't stop dancing around). And Desmond, your friendly, but slightly present-obsessed Christmas fairy. This book is suitable for 4 to 50 year-olds.

“Oh socks“ I said, “please give up“

I think this would be fun to incorporate when introducing making classroom rules because they talk about picking up after yourself.

#lae3414sp19 This P book by Steve Attewell was introduced to me by the children that I nanny. The book is a collection of very silly and imaginative poems that are sure to quickly grab the attention of any elementary aged classroom! The title poem in particular is written about a boy who laughed so hard this his socks fell off his feet and ran down the street! You can see many of the different elements of poetry throughout the works in this book.

mluter Because this book inspires creativity, I wanted to incorporate different elements. For the lesson, students will write their own Steve Attewell style poem following the same structure and elements. After doing this, they will create a presentation using technology. They could record themselves reading their poem and use images to add their own illustrations to it. UDL principle 5.1 and 2.5 because of the use of technology (edited) 6y

ESOL strategy 31 Students will be given a partially completed poem in the same style as Attewelll where they will fill in words and phrases to personalize their poems. (edited) 6y

DrSpalding I am all for inspiring creativity. I love the idea of them recording them selves reading their poem. Use the app VoiceThread! 6y
