Collection of poems about bipolar disorder and the drugs people take for it. Really moving as the poet gets personal about her journey.

This was a total random read for me. I was working a “Sunday Service” at the library and running books out for curbside pickup. A kid, maybe around 20, was returning a book, just beaming about his latest read. His college professor got him interested in poetry. I asked him what book and decided to put a hold on it. I couldn‘t resist. It was a fantastic book of poems about mental illness.

Ruthiella Fantastic! I‘ll bet he was tickled that you took his recommendation! I would be! 😀 4y
Come-read-with-me This sounds great! 4y
Cortg @Ruthiella I don‘t know who he is but I think I‘d recognize him. I may have it added to the “what we‘re reading” section next month on the website. Maybe he‘ll see it 😀 4y
Cortg @Come-read-with-me It‘s an excellent read to get a glimpse of what living with bi-polar is like, the stigma around mental health or if you rely on medication for a mental illness. It can be lonely but hopefully books like this help to know that you‘re not alone ❤️ 4y
Come-read-with-me @Cortg The feeling of not being alone is so important, especially right now. ❤️ 4y

These poems hurt and healed me, saw mental illness through the day to day lens of someone who has lived in its terrifying embrace. I felt so seen by these words and images. I‘ll be reading this again and again, much like I do Sylvia Plath‘s work, because it is where I feel most at home in my mind.

Kenyazero It sounds like you had an amazing connection with these poems. I‘m super glad for you! 4y
madams421 @Kenyazero Yes! So so good ❤️ 4y
