The Supreme Macaroni Company LP: A Novel | Adriana Trigiani
9 posts | 12 read | 8 to read
For over a hundred years, the Angelini Shoe Company in Greenwich Village has relied on the leather produced by Vechiarelli & Son in Tuscany. This historic business partnership provides the twist of fate for Valentine Roncalli, the school-teacher turned shoemaker, to fall in love with Gianluca Vechiarelli, a tanner with a complex past . . . and a secret. A piece of surprising news is revealed on a fateful Christmas Eve when Valentine and Gianluca join her extended family. Now faced with life altering choices, Valentine remembers the wise words that inspired her in the early days of her beloved Angelini Shoe Company: "A person who can build a pair of shoes can do just about anything." The proud, passionate Valentine is going to fight for everything she wants and savor all she deserves—the bitter and the sweetness of life itself.

I love books that can move me both to laugh and cry. A wise and humorous look at family relationships is here. Valentina gets engaged on Christmas Eve, just as her career is about to take off. Can she have it all?

Wonderful! This is a continuation of Very Valentine and Brava Valentine. For those of us with strong Italian roots this is a must read!

Didn‘t like her husband, Gianluca. I actually agreed with most of her thoughts, actions, etc, except I couldn‘t understand why they rushed into marriage and didn‘t talk about many of the things that ended up creating conflict beforehand. I‘m not sure why I didn‘t like Gianluca, but every time he did something nice, I had this foreboding feeling. Story kept me interested. Listened to the audio, narrator did a good job with accents and such. Ok.

As a stand alone book I would have hated this- the pacing was off. But as the ending of a series I liked it so I‘ll call it a pick.

Crazeedi Agree, you have to read the series! 7y
