“We planted a tree and that one tree made the world better”
Hard workers will be rewarded!
The little red hen asked for help to plant the seeds from the other farm animals. They declined:( this shows kids if they work hard, they will be rewarded
-traditional lit
Traditional. This, just like other books the Emberleys have made, are perfect for young children. The story is simple and the illustrations add interest, brightness and fun to the telling.
The Red Hen by Rebecca and Ed Emberley, 2009. This traditional tale tells of red hen and her cake and how no one will help her make it. It‘s a simple and repetitive story paired with bright and simple color blocked illustrations. This story tells a little bit of a lesson about helping with the process to reap the rewards but it‘s also just a silly book that can be read for fun.
The illustrations were very unique. The animals were all over the pages and all different types of colors. It was extremely interesting but cool.
The Red Hen is a Traditional story written by Rebecca Emberley and Ed Emberley. This story had the characters of The Red Hen, The Cat, The Rat, and The Frog. The setting was not described but the plot was about making a cake and no one wanted to help.
“‘Hmmmph!‘ Said the red hen. ‘I think I will eat it myself.‘ And she did.”
This would be a great book to read to children to explain the importance of hard work and earning things in life. This would also be a fun book to read to a class when teaching the children how to bake a cake, while still being meaningful at the same time.
Genre: Traditional Literature
This book has the same story line as the book, “The Little Red Hen”. However, in this story, the red hen is baking a cake. Just as I enjoyed “The Little Red Hen”, I enjoyed this book and its meaning as well. I also thought it was cute how they included a cake recipe in the back of the book for children to try.
I LOVED this book. It was short and sweet but taught a big lesson. I also loved that it has the cake recipe. I think this is a neat book to use at the beginning of the year to teach group work ethic.
Publication Date: 2009
Who is the book intended for: Children
Character Development: No
Proper Illustrations: Yes
Storyline: A hen is making a cake. None of his friends want to help make it, but then all want to help eat it. The hen does everything himself and learns he should have to share with those who didn‘t help.
In this book the hen is working so hard to bake this cake and none of the other animals will help! I think this book can teach kids that helping is always a good thing and sometimes you might even get a reward! (cake)
This book has lots of colorful illustrations! None of the shapes are perfect and I think it‘ll draw the kids attention. This book shows that if you don‘t work or help people, you won‘t get the reward. You should work for what you want!
This would be a great book to read in the CDC and I loved how it ended with the cake recipe for those who want to make the “simply splendid cake.”
This book had a very simple plot that where each event to come was predictable. The hen tried asking the cat, the rat, and the frog to all help with the process of making the cake but every step they responded “not I.” This fable had colorful illustrations and using a variety of shapes to creat the characters. Genre: traditional literature(fable); Published: 2009; Illustrator: Rebecca and Ed Emberley
“Hmmph!” Said the Red Hen. “I think I will eat it myself.” And she did.
The illustrations are very abstract and very bright and intriguing. I would definitely read this in my classroom no matter the age. It teaches a very important lesson that kids no matter what age should be reminded of.
The theme of this book would definitely be that if you don‘t help with something you don‘t get to enjoy the benefits of it. This would be a great book to read to kids. We know that the hen is determined and we realize the other characters are very lazy yet greedy.
This book is about a red hen who makes a cake. Non of her friends will help her make it but they all want to eat it.
The book had beautiful bright pictures on eat page. Along with the recipe for the “Red Hen‘s Simply Splendid Cake” in the back of the book.
The traditional literature I had chose to read was the Red Hen by Rebecca Emberley and Ed Emberley. The story is about a hen that had wanted to bake a cake. With each step she took to bake the cake she asked for help from her friends. The hen continued to bake the cake by herself and once it was made she didn‘t share because she had done all the work. The setting is in a kitchen with her friends cat, rat and frog.
