The Forger's Spell | Edward Dolnick

As riveting as a World War II thriller, The Forger's Spell is the true story of three men and an extraordinary deception: the revered artist Johannes Vermeer; the small-time Dutch painter who dared to impersonate him years later; and the con man's mark, Hermann Goering, the fanatical art collector and one of Nazi Germany's most reviled leaders.

A World War II story of a painting, deception, and the con man's ultimate mark: Nazi fanatical art collector, Hermann Goering. Engaging and a quick narrative non-fiction read make this a terrific story.

The perfect book to read while waiting to hear if you've been accepted as a liver transplant candidate? This one, as it turns out.Absorbing, educational (learned so much about Vermeer), and an absolute page turner. Also, nothing at all to do with health / livers / transplants. I was accepted BTW :) .

I'm a little obsessed with the history of WW2 art looting. This book has it all, and more...art history, forgery, appraisers, provenance, and greed.
