Su un terreno nei dintorni di Vigta, buono solo per ricavarne creta per i vasai, viene trovato il cadavere di un uomo. Sfigurato, squartato, chiuso in un sacco affiorato dopo una forte pioggia. Non si sa chi sia lo sconosciuto, ma nel frattempo una donna del paese denunzia la scomparsa del marito, un colombiano di origini siciliane, imbarcato su navi di lungo corso che fanno la spola tra il Sud America e lItalia. Anche se il delitto ha tutte le caratteristiche di un omicidio di mafia, Montalbano sente odore di bruciato.

Book 13 of Inspector Montalbano series. Salvo investigates a body found 3th potters field, chopped into 30 pieces. This has the signature of a Mafia hit. And Mimi, his second in command, has been acting strangely and has the team on edge. Another great mystery!

My instinct has always been to bolt through a series of books in strict order, leaving nothing behind. In contrast, I‘ve only read a couple of these, in a completely haphazard way, and I think I might enjoy them more like this. These are intensely Sicilian in content (the crime, the approach to detection, the food...) and style (it‘s really interesting reading books in translation). I look forward to reading another sometime.

About to start book 13 in the Inspector Montalbano Series. I do love this series and the great characters brought tonight. Also some of the best covers!
