Another day, another book! I just have time to start this one but I think it will be good. It‘s nonfiction geared to a YA audience, which is new to me.
ALA 2020 YA Nonfiction Finalist
pickOne of my favorite authors writing about the heroic women pilots of Russia during WWII. I love learning about these women but the writing style always gets a bit choppy. I think it's because of the language in the translations, but I could be wrong. However, this book was inspiring and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ever heard of the night witches? Female Russian pilots during WWII flew combat missions against the Nazis, mainly (only?) at night. Elizabeth Wein's latest came in on pre-order last night. Now I'm waiting for my honey at the hospital and reading about these courageous ladies.
PS - I ordered this book and one other before I decided on my book fast for 2019, so they don't count. At least, that's what I'm telling myself....
I wanted read this the second it was announced. I love the history of the Night Witches.
