Six months after the fact, Reece is standing trial for the "murder" of Headmaster Charles Eldritch. Aurelia has been confiscated, and as for his friends...they've been in better shape. Then there's the small matter of The Heron's new Aureliod Fleet, which is leading a preemptive strike against The Kreft and the unsuspecting humans under their control. In a war that doesn't seem to have a place for the crew of The Aurelia, Reece and his friends are faced with a choice: stay together, or divide and hunt the mythical weapon that might be the key to destroying the Kreft for good.
