Sometimes there are books you just know it's the author's first. The writing in Priest is very plain and "He went here. He picked this up" sort of stuff. That being said, Squidapus found the plot, characters and world absolutely enthralling. A PTSD priest journeys into a magical forest to solve a crime committed by an order of knights in time to absolve them of it so they can stop an inhuman army from slaughtering a town. Gripping DnDesque fantasy
