This novel is beautifully illustrated and written in poem form. “Shadow“ is about a make-believe character representing the idea of imaginary characters/ideas. This book is very descriptive and as we all know children love to pretend and play in imaginative ways. I think this book would definitely draw students' attention but I would not use it to support a lesson.

This story was a very interesting read. It‘s a very deep book and would be understood on different levels depending on what age you read it to. Nevertheless, it‘s a very interesting book and I would read this to a class.

Review: This book is based off of African folklore. It is about the mysterious happenings of a shadow. This story tells the reader about the characteristics of the shadow; how it forms, how it moves, where it lives, and how the shadow is unstoppable at all times of the day.

5⭐️ I love this Caldecott winner from 1983- the illustrations are beautiful and the verses would be beautiful read out loud ( as originally translated. ) Going to work in reading Children‘s books awards this summer, including ( so excited!!!) The Corbett‘s Scott King Award
