I own no books that could be called rare, but did you know you can read some of the books in the Library of Congress Rare Books and Special Collections in their online Reading Room? Here's the link to the children's titles available-including this beautiful copy of Beauty and the Beast. Reading online isn't the same, but it's still interesting to look at.

DebinHawaii @Suelizbeth I think he's a pointy-nosed bear thing but he does look rat-like in this picture, 🐻🐭 7y
Suelizbeth @DebinHawaii I thought I saw a long tail. 7y
Austen_Nerd thank you 7y
Victory1 Hello, I'm new here and trying Litsy out for the first time. The animals tail looks possibly braided or twisted. 7y
DebinHawaii @Victory1 Welcome to Litsy!! 🎉📚👍Hope you enjoy it here! @Suelizbeth from looking at the other pictures and a passage about him 'throwing his bear skin' off when he transformed, I'm still leaning to bear and wonder if the tail-looking thing is an unfortunately placed twisted tree root or part of his outfit or something else since it isn't shown in the other couple of illustrations. But I could be wrong! 😆👍 (edited) 7y
Victory1 Thanks DebinHawaii although, I could say, Deb in my favorite state to visit! I'm enjoying my first day looking around Listy and wondering how I didn't see Litsy before, what a perfect site for book people! I vote, twisted tree root, rope or ? 😀👍 7y
