#ShowSomeLove Day 21: #MotherLanguageDay reminded me of this Pakistani poet featured by Fats for Poetry Friday: “Today, I‘m excited to introduce a new-to-me writer with a poem that pays tribute to the writer‘s mother. Noor Unnahar is a twenty-two-year-old artist, writer, and social media personality. The poem featured below is taken from her collection.” Her post: https://wp.me/pDlzr-lZK

I was a bit let down by this little book of poetry. I bought it on a whim one day at Target since it looked promising, and I did enjoy it a little. There are several stand out poems in this book, but a good chunk of them are simply ‘meh‘. In addition, the author uses the imagery of cities for most of the book and is incredibly repetitive while the illustrations in the book either don‘t make sense or just lack context.
2,5/5⭐
I noticed how difficult it was for me to come up with a fitting rating for this poetry collection. I liked a couple, but that says it all. A lot of poems seemed to be about comparisons with cities and buildings, which was good in the beginning but then I kind of grew out of it, if that's the right description...
Anyhow, a so-so poetry collection in my opinion.
Just gorgeous in its simplicity, a very familiar feeling finally put to words
