The Egg Tree | 
pickThe Egg Tree by Katherine Milhous is a RF picture book that has won a Caldecott Award. It has colorful illustrations that is sure to draw the attention of many students. This story would be a great RA to read around Easter time for the holidays. It is a sweet story about a young girl and her family participating in an egg hunt, when she locates a special something in the attic.
“..for it was their first egg hunt”. The quote represents how young Katy and Carl are which allows younger students to relate to them.
I really enjoyed this book. Obviously it would be a great read around Easter, if your school allows you to celebrate it. The art in the book is very traditional and doesn‘t have much detail, making it an easy read for young children.

Review: Katy and Carl participate in their first Easter egg hunt. During the Easter egg hunt, Katy decides to go up to her grandmother‘s attic. Her grandmother had painted these eggs when she was a little girl and the grandmother has now made the painted eggs into a little tree – an egg tree. This book chronicles the journey of a little girl learning more about her grandmother and cementing a special bond between the two.
Fun story that teaches about the importance of family and the fun of a holiday.
