An over complicated crazy mess. Bad decision follows bad decision. Entertaining.
An over complicated crazy mess. Bad decision follows bad decision. Entertaining.
In the first chapter, we meet our protagonist Hank, along with his brother Jacob and his friend Lou.
This felt like a character study of what money can do to you, and the lengths it can drive you to. The justifications, the dreams, the risks. Is there anything we wouldn't do for 4 million dollars?
This is a suspense novel which builds up from chapter one. Building slowly, quietly raising your heart rate until that final chapter.
Five stars
I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, and some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

Pretty good story about a simple plan not turning out that way. It's not a complicated read, but held my interest.
I found this book in a search for scary options to celebrate Halloween. The ethical questions it raises really got me thinking. This is a good one
Always a fun moment when you realize that characters in a book are younger than you. You're trying to steal 4.4 million dollars and making horrible choices along the way? But you're not even thirty!
Thriller fans, tell me how you do it. This book just didn‘t let up! My heart was pounding and I never wanted to put the book down. How do you get anything done??
Smith is so talented at writing multilayered, realistic, flawed characters who get themselves into situations where they are out of their depth. You know it probably isn‘t going to end well, but you can‘t stop reading to find out just how bad it gets.
I feel like the creators of Good Girls read this and were like “what if this but women and funny?” Same breakneck spiral out of control from one irrevocable decision to the next.
A Simple Investigation mostly doesn't exist in my brain because I have No Time for Odo romance plots. Sorry Odo! I just don't ever buy it!
Tagged book is a long time tbr resident that I need to bump up because of how much I liked The Ruins.
