Selected Poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay (Revised)
Selected Poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay (Revised) | Edna St Vincent Millay
5 posts | 3 read
One of America's most celebrated poets--and winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1923--Edna St. Vincent Millay defined a generation with her passionate lyrics and intoxicating voice of liberation. Edited by Millay biographer Nancy Milford, this Modern Library Paperback Classics collection captures the poet's unique spirit in works like "Renascence and Other Poems," "A Few Figs from This-tles," and "Second April," as well as in "The Ballad of the Harp-Weaver" and eight sonnets from the early twenties. As Milford writes in her Introduction, "These are the poems that made Edna St. Vincent Millay's reputation when she was young. Saucy, insolent, flip, and defiant, her little verses sting the page."

My favorite, the one that first introduced me to Millay.

I don‘t like all of it, but when I like Millay‘s poetry I really love it.

On the home front, I‘ve been kind-of-quarantined the last two days and feeling miserable. Kiddo seems to have had a cold and hubby may as well, but maybe I‘m keeping COVID to myself. I had to give up my last gig of the year and I‘m really mad and frustrated, but the director, contractor, and section leader have all been very kind and considerate, so that helps. 😫

Taking a quiet moment this morning before things get really hectic. Kiddo has Nutcracker every day from now until Sunday, my MIL is coming Friday-Monday to see the ballet, then I have gigs next week and weekend, then the week before Christmas is solid doctor/dentist appointments. Deep breath and plunge!

Clare-Dragonfly I love this poem! My favorite musician, Unwoman, did a little song of it. I don‘t know if you can get it on Bandcamp or if it was only for her Patreon supporters. 12mo

Day 7 #thesealeychallenge
There are a few poems by Edna St Vincent Millay that I love. I found a few more gems in here. I also think I might prefer her in small doses. 😅

Pickpick

After reading this book, I feel that I know her as a person. I especially loved the poems with imagery and connections to the ocean.
