The Wanderer
The Wanderer | Kahlil Gibran
5 posts | 4 read
The Wanderer was first published in 1932. Much of Gibran's writings deal with Christianity, especially on the topic of spiritual love. But his mysticism is a convergence of several different influences: Christianity, Islam, Sufism, Hinduism and theosophy. His most famous work is The Prophet.

#120 of my year. This one is one I picked up at that huge book sale last year and has been in my kitchen cabinets the whole time lol I need taller bookshelves. Anyways it sounds interesting and is a short read so yay let‘s get it! I‘m listening to For You by Once A Tree ♥️ I‘m going to chug coffee, blast music, ignore my responsibilities, and read the week away 😉🤘🏽Also the other books are potential TBR 🤓

Caffeinated_Reader This was a witty and wise little collection. I got a few chuckles out of some and actual wisdom from others. Definitely enjoyable and would recommend. (edited) 4y

Pickpick

A book of parables that I wouldn't not have in my library. Weak praise for Gibran, but he sets a high standard for himself. 3.5/5🌟

Frankie liked the animal fables best.

I've been too long in lockdown without a bookshop visit and finally cracked by going online and adding two more of the Heinemann editions of Khalil Gibran to my collection.
I love Gibran's spirituality, which is represented in The Wanderer, however, I'm not keen on established religion, but as I know his Christian faith was important to him, it will be interesting to read his interpretation of the life of Jesus

BookishMe These are gorgeous! Until your post, I supposed he followed one of the Islamic orders - Sufi or Shia. I should have known better that a Lebanese/ Muslim-like name doesn't equate to that religion ;D 5y
Bookwomble @BookishMe They're nice editions, of which I hope to eventually collect the full set 📗💖📘 Gibran reminds us through his work and his being to challenge preconceptions. 🙂 4y

Mehso-so

I just finished reading The Wanderer by Khalil Gibran. I loved The Prophet and was eager to read his other works. Gibran always has such a calming effect on me. I find his writings to be very simple dealing with the most complex of emotions. The wanderer exposes us to some very fascinating ideas about everyday things and compels us to think.

Nute I read The Prophet as a teenager and I know that it continues to shape the way I see many things to this very day. 5y
Shaleen @Nute I agree. The prophet had an everlasting impact on me too. 5y
