“'It's quite tricky,' said Pippi, 'but I'll give you a small hint. If you should see them both together under a tree and one of them should start to climb up the tree, then that one isn't the horse.'“

I wouldn't chose this book for my classroom because it ended abruptly and I wasn't impressed with the style of this book. It kind of jumped right in but then each chapter is different.
Pippi in the South Seas written by Astrid Lindgren. Chapter 1. p. 9-21. We are introduced to the three main characters, Pippi Longstocking, Annika, and Tommy. A “fine gentlemen“ comes into town wanting to purchase the land that the old Villa Villekulla is on but it turns out that Pippi owns the villa, and she is a creative manipulator. I would classify this books as Magical Powers because in this chapter, Pippi shows her possession of powers.
“If the heart is warm and beats the way it should, there is no reason to be cold.“
I loved how the author and illustrator included an illustration every few pages. It gave the text a bit of dimension and would give readers an idea of what the author wants the scene to look like. This story goes so many different places and has a lot of adventure that the details it has are essential. The part where Pippi takes her two friends to Kurrekurredutt Island is one of my favorites because it's unexpected.
I loved this book and all the other Pippi Longstocking stories as well. “Pippi in the South Seas“ was full of adventure and excitement about Pippi and her friends, Tommy and Annika. I loved how detailed the author made each adventure seem. Although Pippi didn't attend school each day, she was a very bright, intelligent girl. She has many philosophies that make her unique. I will definitely be adding this to my classroom.
Day 18 #UncannyOctober #XMarksTheSpot☠️🗡This prompt screams PIRATES! 😱so I went with mostly favorites--from childhood I had the Disney Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack album, read-along book/record & View-Master reels & I loved reading about & watching Pippi Longstocking battle pirates. Later there was the Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride & people keep telling me I need to read the foodie pirate tale in Cinnamon and Gunpowder.☠️
