Collected Novellas
Collected Novellas | Gabriel Garcia Marquez
6 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
Renowned as a master of magical realism, Gabriel Garcia Marquez has long delighted readers around the world with his exquisitely crafted prose. Brimming with unforgettable characters and set in exotic locales, his fiction transports readers to a world that is at once fanciful, haunting, and real. Leaf Storm, Gabriel Garcia Marquez's first novella, introduces the mythical village of Macondo, a desolate town beset by torrents of rain, where a man must fulfill a promise made years earlier. No One Writes to the Colonel is a novella of life in a decaying tropical town in Colombia with an unforgettable central character. Chronicle of a Death Foretold is a dark and profound story of three people joined together in a fatal act of violence.

#Alphabetgame #LetterC @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

C brings up collections and “complete”. I found GGM‘s novellas creative and thoughtful in his own way, and also pleasantly diverse when collected.

Other C‘s:
The Clockwork Universe-Dolnick
Clothes, Clothes, Clothes. Music, Music, Music. Boys, Boys, Boys.-Viv Albertine
The Collected Stories-Márquez, Grace Paley & Amy Hempel
The Complete Stories-Clarice Lispector & Flannery O‘Connor

Hanna-B My favourite C is a CC, Chronic City by Jonathon Lethem 2y
Graywacke @Hanna-B - I‘ve heard of Lethem but I‘m not familiar with him. 2y
DivineDiana I must say the “Clothes,Music,Boys” title has me interested! 🙂 2y
Graywacke @DivineDiana I really adored the memoir. Viv Albertine was a crazy part of the punk rock movement; she is the “you” in The Clash‘s Train in Vain. 🙂 2y
Graywacke @DivineDiana and now the Clash song is stuck in my head. 🙂 2y
DivineDiana Thank you for the additional information! Adding to my TBR list! 2y

wisherwishinguponastar @hannah-leeloo Thanks! My brother and I enjoyed the games and cards as kids, but during shutdown we actually learned what to do with the cards. Took us twenty years, but we figured it out! 3y
hannah-leeloo Lol me and my sister collected them too, still haven't used them as playing cards lol 3y

Pickpick

Part of my #readingthroughMarquez. Read this in February. Thee Novellas from different eras in his writing, but all terrific. On a flight to Israel a flight attendant asked me what I was reading. I showed him the book, and he said, “ah, the master.” And I agree with that.
