Did you do anything special this past week in honor of banned books?

Other than reading online articles and posts on the subject, I didn't really do much. I'm not reading any challenged books right now. But today at the library, I was helping my oldest find some more books to check out before the library closed for a reno, and I saw the Amulet series. I mentioned that I saw somewhere that someone had tried to ban it. His response? ⬇️

SleepyDragon “Probably because it has magic in it. I read the series at school last year. It's pretty good.“ Then he picked up the first volume and stuck it in his bag to check out. Proud mama moment, right there. #raisingreaders #bannedbooks (edited) 5y

Bedheaded, bleary-eyed birthday girl. She turned 8 yesterday! I'm kind of overwhelmed.

Dad's influence is featured here. Both of our girls LOVE graphic novels and comics and that's being honored by this 7-book box set of one of her favorite series (note the red hair on the heroine)!

4⭐️First 3 books: Quite a few patrons have recommended this GN series to me in the Children's Dept. I decided to see what all the fuss what about: All three are very quick and a simple storyline. The storyline is a bit slow and did not become interesting until the 3rd book. I will finish the series- I just hope it gets a little more interesting. Books 2,3, and 4 of #DeweysReadathon completed ✔️

Graphic novels are always considered life savers to me when I need a quick read. This one was...okay. It's obviously middle grade, but it also is a graphic novel so it's really REALLY easy. Almost too easy. Not saying it's a bad story, just saying it was too easy for me.
