Weaver's Lament doesn't feel much longer than its predecessor, but it does feel a lot more substantial and self-contained. I attribute this to the themes: class and privilege and the way both contribute to inequality, oppression, and prejudice. The magical elements and associated twist really drive home how inhumane conditions were at the time for factory workers in general - and can still be today.

I don‘t know. These books are so short that character attitudes seem rather cavalier toward people who are not as fortunate as they are. The MC's blindness to her brother's fault further soured my enjoyment. The romance too is rather problematic. Meh.
