“A good dog doesn‘t have to be perfect. A good dog just has to love”
I wouldn‘t use this book as part of a lesson but I might have it in my classroom and if anyone wants to have a discussion with me after reading it they can
“Sometimes you have to leave to find your way back.“ I love this quote because it shows the true message of the story and how even when you are lost, you'll find your way back.
This would be a great book for students just starting out reading chapter books.
Speculative fiction - This story was published in 2018 and is a story about a dog named Brodie who goes on a journey after getting lost. This book fits into the book genre of speculative fiction because it explores themes that are not typical in everyday life such as animals that talk and explores the emotions of dogs. This was a great read and a great book for speculative fiction.

One more book before school officially starts! Why not a sad dog book?! Love All Dan Gemeinhart‘s books. 💕📚💕
I looove dogs so very much, and maybe that is why I had this reaction...but did anyone find this book to be too dark and scary? I didn't really enjoy it as much as I thought I would because it seemed full of menacing unknown dangers. I prefer a little more of an upbeat vibe in my middle school book picks!
I really enjoyed this book! It reminded me of A Dog‘s Purpose. Me and my son had the pleasure of watching this little feisty pup, over the weekend. We were sad to say goodbye. Lots of laughs and smiles. Litsy, meet Montana ❤️🐶🐕
Another great story by Dan Gemeinhart. Narrated by a recently deceased loyal dog who is determined to return to earth and make sure "his boy" is safe, before he enters the afterlife. Thus begins Brodie's harrowing journey as he pieces together the murky and unsettling flashbacks that he hopes will lead him to his boy one last time before it's too late for him to go to Heaven.
