If You Only Knew
If You Only Knew: My Unlikely, Unavoidable Story of Becoming Free | Jamie Ivey
Among our greatest fears is the dread of what others would think of us "if they only knew"--the parts of our past we hope to forget, the parts of our present we work to conceal. Yet the part we actually do the best job of hiding is not the unsightly debris of our own mess, but rather the stunning beauty of God's grace. The fear that demands we protect this false image at all costs leads us to unwittingly declare a false gospel at every turn. Jamie Ivey finally grew tired of doing that, tired of being too ashamed and insecure to let others see the full extent of what God was capable of doing with our unworthiness. So she quit hiding. She let Him get praise for what she'd been pretending she didn't need. What she found as a result is how a willingness to just open up and say the stuff that most people refuse to reveal about themselves gives others permission to join us in our transparency. And how the process of becoming real ignites an ongoing passion in us for living out our ongoing redemption, enabling us to more fully embrace not only our relationship with Him but also with one another. If You Only Knew is the utterly inviting, often humorous, incredibly authentic back-story of one woman's life, told for the purpose of helping you strip away both the inner and outward hypocrisy that cripples Christian freedom, choosing instead to live with courageous confidence in God's ability to make you truly one person. His.

Jamie Ivey tells her story in all transparency and vulnerability. You walk with her through her life journey and see how Jesus loved her through all the ugly in her life. There are two things I left with after reading this book. Both are things I already knew but were impacted stronger through this reading. First, everyone has a story and we need to share it. Second, Jesus is better.

Summer is not quite my favorite season but I do like it better than winter. The snakes 🐍 keep me from doing a lot of my favorite outdoor activities in the summer.
Anyways, I have really been eyeing the tagged book for a while. It would be great to get to read it this summer (while hiding from the snakes 🐍 😂😂)

I listen to Jamie Ivey‘s podcast ‘Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey‘ so I was very interested in reading her book. I chose to listen to the audiobook and it was just like listening to her podcast and I listened to the whole book in one day. I loved her honesty and vulnerability. She is a Christian but doesn‘t claim to be perfect. She still struggles with guilt and temptations like we all do. She encourages you to be honest and vulnerable.

My daughter saw me working on this and thought that I might have added too many love stickers. Not possible. ❤️💕😍

Valentine Fun #13 - This book just came out at the end of January 2018 and I had the pleasure of getting to be on the launch team for this book. I love Jamie Ivey so much. She is the host of the podcast called “The Happy Hour.” If you know anything about me, besides reading, you know I love to do jigsaw puzzles, crosstich, and listen to podcasts! In this book Jamie opens up and shares her story. It‘s a hardback too! I love the cover and the colors
