Before Evil: The Prequel-Maggie O'Dell | Alex Kava
6 posts | 7 read | 1 to read
The Prequel12th in the Maggie O'Dell seriesFrom her small Quantico office Special Agent Maggie O'Dell has profiled serial killers using Poloraids and faxed copies of evidence provided by homicide detectives from across the country. She's profiled the killers and solved the crimes without ever stepping foot at a real crime scene. Then Albert Stucky comes along and nothing will ever be that same. Stucky is a sadistic madman who places pieces of his victims in takeout containers and leaves them for innocent bystanders to find. He enjoys his twisted games as much as he enjoys the kill. Maggie is tasked with profiling his murders. Instead of feeling threatened, Stucky is pleased and he even begins to taunt her--"Let the chase begin."The Maggie O'Dell series has hit the bestseller lists in the US, UK, Australia, Poland, Germany, Italy and Japan, and it has received numerous starred reviews. Stranded (Maggie #11) won a Florida Book Award and the Nebraska Book Award. To date, the series has sold over five million copies worldwide.

This begins with Agent O‘Dell‘s first time at a crime scene (prior to that, she profiled from files curriered to her). She loses her cookies, but she picks herself up and is fine from there on. Little do they know the killer is observing from afar. He‘s immediately drawn to Maggie. He continues his killing spree, leaving little “gifts” with notes for the “pretty FBI agent.” I really enjoy this series. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

“[This is a] prequel to the Maggie O‘Dell FBI profiler series. From her small Quantico office, Special Agent Maggie O'Dell has profiled serial killers using Poloraids, faxed copies and scraps of evidence provided by homicide detectives from across the country. She's gained a reputation for successfully profiling killers and solving crimes without ever stepping foot at a real crime scene. Then comes Albert Stucky, & nothing will ever be the same.”

This is an excellent prequel to the Maggie O‘Dell series. If you‘ve never read the series, start here and then hold on for a fantastic ride through the rest of the ongoing series.

So excited to start this one. I've met the author a few times and she's one of those awesome people who manages to remember you even if it's been a year. She actually engages with her fans. It's so lovely to meet someone you're a fan of and have them turn out to be nice. The series this is a prequel to is a must read (as is her second series for that matter) Her characters are fantastic and the stories really pull you in.
