#7 Book from Presidents Day book sale today!!! I think that this title applies to my life. The pain I‘m going through now as a single mamma raising two boys, working full time, and going to nursing school will be useful to me in the future! I just need to remember that in times of discouragement!!! ❤️

A gay teenager doesn't want to go to college as he doesn't like kids his age. He navigates familial relationships and his sexuality. A main story line is told in his therapy sessions as he discusses an incident during his American classroom trip to D.C. I particularly loved this part because I participated in a very similar program in high school and the author nails the dress code, rules, and awkwardness of it all. #outdoorreading #ya

Bibliogeekery Sounds good! Thanks for the #queerbooks recommendation! 8y
Blaire @Bibliogeekery hope you enjoy it! After your post realized I can use it for book riot's ya LGBTQ author category. 👌 8y

““Perfer et obdura, dolor hic tibi proderit olim.”
-Be patient and tough; someday this pain will be useful to you- Ovid

I watched the movie and now I want to read this book.

This book was amazing for me to read, and I really connected with the main character. It is also funny and This book displays wonderfully of what it feels like to be depressed and the uncertainty and stress of going from adolescents to adulthood.

Just reread this one, and it remains one of my favorites. I love the narrator, and I was once again reminded how funny this book is.

shawnmooney I enjoyed his The Weekend (Andorra, not so much) - I'd like to check this one out! 8y

When I was a younger, not fully out, gay boy in Texas, this book was one of my lifelines. I was totally this kid. Now, as a 27-year-old gay man... I found the kid pretty insufferable. Am i supposed to? Is this what being an adult is?! I don't know how to feel.

Blaire I agree. It captures the self-centered world view of teenagers so well, and the feeling of being left out/too good for the other kids. But as an adult you want to tell him get over yourself and go to brown already. ☺️ 8y
