I definitely don't think I'm the target audience for this one. It was ok. It had some interesting, thought provoking points (hence the 3 stars) but it was repetitive and a little dull and lacking for actual storyline. I preferred the first story Mrs Manstey's View, but only barely.

I went between 2 and 3 stars for this one so I'm rounding up and giving it the 3.

⭐⭐.5/5 . Two short stories about women and marriage, whilst nice but not interesting enough.

A lovely person called @batsy has sent these awesome goodies to me. Garfield is so funny, I will certainly have laugh out loud moments while perusing it. And yay, another Edith Wharton! I am loving her writing in The Age of Innocence. That cover of AAIW is simply superb! The postcard is cute, hello to Malaysia (I hope to visit someday), and I am going to use the little diary soonly soon! Merci beaucoup, mon chéri! 💜

Pickpick

"If marriage was the slow life-long acquittal of a debt contracted in ignorance, then marriage was a crime against human nature."

Wharton dissects an unconventional marriage and a lonely widow with tragic results in these short stories.

LeahBergen I love Wharton. ❤️ 8y
Brie @LeahBergen Me too 8y
batsy Joining in on the Wharton love. I should read more of her short stories. 8y
Brie @batsy This is the first time I've read her short stories but I want to read more too. So far I've only read her novels. 8y
